Animusic's "Pipe Dream" Showcased on ATI's Fastest Graphics Card

August 2002

ATI has just released its fastest graphics card ever, the RADEON 9700. The power of the card allows for very complex animations to be rendered in real time.

The ATI development team chose Animusic's "Pipe Dream" as one of only a few animations to demonstrate the RADEON 9700's ability.

The real-time version of "Pipe Dream" was shown at major ATI press events in San Francisco, at SIGGRAPH 2002 in San Antonio, and other cities world-wide. ATI will also bundle a demo CDROM with each new RADEON card and the "Pipe Dream" demo is on the disk.

"We were pleased to hear of ATI's desire to produce a real-time "Pipe Dream" on their flagship card," said Wayne Lytle. "We had been discussing having real-time capabilities for Animusic, and it was very beneficial to have ATI's excellent engineers prove the concept with a custom-coded version that plays in real time."

The Animusic animations on DVD are rendered over days and days as computers process vast amounts of data. The results are very detailed and rich visuals that are not yet possible with any real-time rendering.

ATI programmers wrote new computer code for the animation originally produced by Animusic to make it possible to for their new card to show "Pipe Dream" in real time.

More information on the "Pipe Dream" demo and the RADEON card is available at the ATI Web site:
